At Oxford Genetics we have expertise in engineering and expressing a wide range of recombinant proteins (e.g. antibodies, antibody-fragments, fusion-proteins, cytokines, growth factors), with a particular focus on mammalian systems. Mammalian protein expression systems provide the most comprehensive posttranslational modifications for expressed proteins with properties closer to native molecular structures and biological activities.

Oxford Genetics mammalian cell protein optimization and expression services include bioinformatic analysis, codon optimization and synthesis of target genes, cloning into expression plasmids, transient transfection, stable cell line establishment, pilot study protein production, large scale protein production, protein purification, and process development. 

Our past experience using our proprietary algoritms has demonstrated that codon and gene optimization can result in >100-fold improvements in expression for wild-type human genes (and often provides the difference between being able to work with a protein or not). We have also observed that changing other parts of a protein (e.g. the signal peptide) can also significantly improve productivity for some genes.
